The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

Become a Material Operations Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll oversee material project management across the Edison territory, supporting a diverse range of substation Capital and O&M projects. You will also be required to operate within a fast-paced environment that plays a critical role in driving the success of high-volume, high-visibility projects within the substation function. Responsibilities

  • Develops sourcing and procurement strategies with an emphasis on speed, cost reduction and secondary suppliers.
  • Oversees the daily management of material supply and constraints, status reporting and escalation, supplier engagement and the relentless pursuit of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures strategy implementation to maintain the inventory investment at levels that align with machine service level and inventory turnover ratio objectives.
  • Leads initiatives to increase inventory velocity and reduce risk of obsolete material.
  • Oversees the communication of the status of materials, expected delivery dates, requisitions and any potential issues associated with construction projects.
  • Oversees the negotiation with vendors, project engineering, project management and construction management on priorities to meet project schedule needs.
  • Estimates and manages annual operations budget supporting the material operations team and service providers.
  • Creates standards and integrates processes of material logistics to increase visibility across organizations and projects.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of combined experience performing or supervising in materials operations.
  • Experience in inventory management, logistics and/or supply chain management.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience managing operational functions, including the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and performance metrics.
  • Experience with data analysis and providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with SAP, Ariba, and Design Manager systems.
  • Experience in leading material project management initiatives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functional areas to integrate work activities, support business and service improvements, enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, and manage risks appropriately.
  • Experience developing and executing business plans, managing information, and providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

 

 

Additional Information

 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 40% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position – Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
