GREEN ENERGY IS THE NOW.
MEET AARON, GOVERNMENT RELATIONS MANAGER AND TRIBAL LIAISON
Aaron is a Government Relations Manager in Local Public Affairs and is the Tribal Liaison at SCE. He works with our Native American tribes and the surrounding cities of Banning, Indian Wells and Palm Desert. Through his work, he has noticed that more cities and tribal nations are sharing SCE’s clean energy vision and looking to adopt clean energy initiatives because of the benefits they bring to our environment and future generations. One of Aaron’s goals is to educate his tribal partners that “green energy isn’t just the future; it is the now.”
As a member of the tribal community, Aaron attends meetings on the reservations and has joined the tribe’s public and private events. Recently due to stay-at-home orders, he shares, “Every interaction is done virtually, which isn’t the Native American way, but to keep everyone safe, we’ve adapted.”
Aaron is a member of the Lummi Indian Nation in Washington state and an MBA-graduate from Washington State University. As a result of his
background and experience, he is passionate about using his Indian Country and background expertise to impact tribal and non-tribal communities positively to achieve a sustainable future.
What is the biggest factor the tribal community should understand about SCE?
I’ve never worked for a corporation like SCE that cares about all people, including the tribal community. Most of my teammates seek advice before making any statements or decisions about our tribal communities.
What is one of your favorite tribal traditions or rituals that you enjoy most?
The simple act of gathering as “people” is my favorite tribal tradition. It allows us to feel each other’s energy and to seek to truly understand one another in person.
What advice would you have for someone that wants to translate any of their skills into SCE?
Stay true to yourself and live your values.
