This is an entry-level position. If hired, your main function would be to assist in the building and retrofitting of Substations throughout the SCE Territory.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
You will need to have at least 1 year of demonstrated experience in construction and a valid/current U.S. driver’s license. You must also have the ability and willingness to frequently travel to any Substation within the SCE service territory and Southern Nevada with the possibility of extended out-of-town assignments.

About Us
The Substation Construction & Maintenance organization within Transmission & Substation has around 890 employees including roughly 496 bargaining unit personnel. We are comprised of four functional organizations. Field personnel are divided into three main areas: Construction Division, Substation & Field Apparatus Maintenance, and Test & Technology. Staff personnel are also divided into three main areas: Resource Planning and Performance Management; Substation Policy, Procedures and Process; and Technical Support and Strategy.
ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION PATHWAY
ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION HELPER
This is the entry-level position for this Electrical Construction pathway. You would be a part of a team consisting of Apprentice and Journeyman, whose mission is to construct and remodel substation facilities and stations.
ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION APPRENTICE
You will assist in constructing and remodeling substation facilities and install and connect electrical equipment. The duration of this apprenticeship is three years. Successful completion of the apprenticeship will result in a placement as a construction electrician.
ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION JOURNEYMAN
Once you complete the apprenticeship, you will become a Journeyman Construction Electrician. You will be responsible for the construction and remodeling of substation facilities and installation and connection of electrical equipment in stations.

The most competitive candidates will be invited to take any required exams needed for further consideration. Please note that our 5108 – CAST is taken in-person in Rosemead, CA and the 4020 – Electrical Construction Physical is taken in-person in Alhambra, CA. The most competitive and qualified candidates resume will be reviewed by the hiring managers for potential consideration for a virtual interview. If offered a position, we will conduct any required background and pre-employment testing prior to you starting in the role.
