MEET THE INNOVATIVE WOMEN OF EDISON.
MEET ASHLEY SAUER, SR. MANAGER OF SAFETY & BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT
Ashley Sauer is a Senior Manager of Safety & Business Organizational Management at Southern California Edison (SCE), one of the nation’s largest electric utilities focused on creating a clean energy future. She is responsible for building high impact people strategies for SCE’s Customer Service Operations Division to drive alignment and engagement in support of operational, compliance, regulatory, and company-wide priorities. Her team aims to equip the Division’s 1000+ employees to execute initiatives through robust internal communications strategy, work environment and employee experience strategies, and division management.
While it was her passion for sustainability and energy efficiency that first brought her to SCE, it is her passion for people and culture that has driven her career. SCE had a tremendous impact on Ashley’s personal and professional growth. She benefited from SCE’s income qualified programs in her youth, she was a college intern of a workforce education and training program funded by SCE, and she will be the first to tell you SCE “saved her life.”
Some of Ashley’s earliest roles at SCE ended up being to lead these very programs she once benefited from as a customer. As a result of experiencing first hand some of the benefit SCE brings to the communities they serve, she was driven to seek a role in leading people, and assumed leadership of several voluntary cross-functional teams over her time at SCE (such as Safety, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Lean In), in an effort to continuously improve the work environment that enables employees to reach their potential and further the business success of SCE. She now co-leads SCE’s Culture Congress, which strives to enable Edison’s future business success by building a physically and psychologically safe culture characterized by excellence, equity, and belonging for all Edison employees. Having the autonomy, flexibility and support to volunteer on efforts she’s passionate about in concert with her core work, has been one of the most meaningful aspects of her work at SCE.
Ashley holds a Bachelor’s in Cultural Anthropology, and Master’s in Applied Anthropology with a focus on the energy industry and energy professionals.
