The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

The Aviation Safety Officer position is a professional position requiring formal aviation training/education and FAA licensing. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing essential aviation related safety functions (internal and external) as part of the overall Aircraft Operations department.
  • Provide a continuity in the aviation operations, monitor safe operations, and promote aviation safety.
  • Lead all aviation safety incident reviews both internally and with external contractors.
  • Administer the department’s SMS program and function as the Chairman of the Safety Committee.
  • Monitors safety issues, provides safety education, investigate incidents and accidents, act as an expert on aviation safety matters.
  • Makes recommendations to improve safety in the workplace, demonstrate in-depth knowledge and relevant safety practices in helicopter aviation management.

The essentials

  • Possess ten (10) or more years of experience in aviation or aerospace related industries.

  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s).

  • Commercial Rotorcraft Certificate.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in aviation, business, engineering or applicable business or technical field or an equivalent combination of military, education, skills, and experience.

  • Certificate in Aviation Safety from an accredited program.

  • Experience in FAR Part 133 Long-Line operations.

  • This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory as needed.

  • Relocation may apply to this position.
