    This pay range represents the rates of pay for step 1 to the maximum step for this position. The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

Become a Tax Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will be part of a team responsible for the preparation of tax provisions and tax returns for Edison International and subsidiaries. The position will provide the candidate with unique learning experiences in ASC 740, and accounting for regulated utilities, including internal and external reporting, performing tax analysis, process improvements implementations, and assist with tax related earnings and cash forecast.

Responsibilities

  • Drives quarterly and annual tax provision process to ensure accurate and timely tax accounting and disclosure
  • Monitors compliance with regulations for tax controls
  • Monitors tax legislation and communicates its potential risks and impacts, including assisting with incorporating tax law changes into tax and financial models.
  • Drives the administration of federal and/or state income tax audits, including dealing directly with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state auditors as required.
  • Ensures appropriate internal controls are in place over the US Tax Process.
  • Assists with short and long-term forecasting of tax expense and cash tax payments.
  • Performs technical tax analysis and gathers supporting documentation in support of the tax audit and assessments
  • Prepares and analyzes all monthly filings and calculating tax payments specific to each jurisdiction to ensure tax compliance
  • Supports and facilitates potential acquisitions, divestitures, and project financing for energy projects
  • Reviews and advises on the tax implications of power purchase agreements and hedges
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience gathering, analyzing, and interpreting tax information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with energy or utility companies and/or utility specific issues.
  • Experience with corporate income tax compliance and accounting for income taxes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Excel, SharePoint.
  • Experience with SAP or similar enterprise-wide ERP system.
  • Experience with Utility International (UI) and/or PowerPlant.
  • Experience with data analytic software such as Alteryx or Power BI.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate / summarize complex technical tax issues to a non-tax audience. 
  • Experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external clients, co-workers, other departments, and management.

 

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
