    This pay range represents the rates of pay for step 1 to the maximum step for this position. The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

Become a GIS Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll play a key role in ensuring and enabling Transmission & Distribution (T&D) technology capabilities in Distribution Circuit Mapping. Distribution Circuit Mapping is responsible for the maintenance of the as-built schematic state of the high voltage (Primary) distribution network in GE Smallworld. The system directly supports enterprise level activities, including planned and emergent operations for Distribution. In addition, the system supports critical activities associated with Transformer Connectivity including Customer Notifications for outages, SCE’s Wildfire Operations including Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and Wildfire compliance reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Performs in-depth analyses, approves, develops recommendations, and creates scripts, tools or models where appropriate to enhance data flow and analysis
  • Leads data remediation efforts including analysis, quality control, and performs or coordinates the asset updates to ensure data is accurate and aligns with actual field conditions
  • Identifies industry trends and maintains relationships with relevant stakeholders and provides consultative services on an as-needed basis to address complex GIS problems/issues
  • Designs, develops and implements procedures to improve efficiency of operations and processes associated with mapping standards and GIS tools
  • Utilizes geospatial software to process, analyze, and model geospatial data to improve processes and data quality
  • Collaborates with internal/external business partners to evaluate impacts on departmental activities that rely on GIS data or processes
  • Conducts land, regulatory, and related project searches, including identification of new data sources helping identify industry trends and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders
  • Produces high-quality map products for presentations, meetings, public usage and departments; creating key business maps and producing ad-hoc or on-off maps
  • Provide functional direction, guidance, and training to staff members to ensure conformance to departmental standards and procedures
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in GIS and analyzing mapping data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on projects that involve the electric distribution system.
  • Strong working knowledge of Geographical Information Systems, especially as they relate to Power-flow. (G.E. Smallworld Spatial Technologies and/or ESRI Solutions.
  • Knowledge of SAP Transactions.
  • Experience advising clients, including independently identifying client needs, developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and communicating results.
  • Experience implementing widespread change impacts.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project.
  • Experience integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and complete business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to clients.
  • Experience in resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to know the latest with relevant technology and innovation.
  • Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, social skills, communication, and the ability to effectively motivate in continuous learning. 

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Pomona (Innovation Villege 2).  However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at alternate work location.
  • Position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position – Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
