The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

Become a Power System Operations Specialist 3 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll work on a team with project advisors, technical experts, and system specialists from cross-functional organizations leading major initiatives, projects, and operations activities in the area of SCE’s Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). Participate in cross functional teams that are working on PSPS related projects and improvement initiatives, including the following:
· Responsible for the operational execution of PSPS across high fire areas of the SCE service territory.
· Responsible for implementing and directing strategic actions to ensure compliance with PSPS protocols while maintaining electric system integrity and reliability in accordance with applicable reliability and regulatory standards.
· Provide leadership to PSPS operations personnel tasked with monitoring, coordinating, and planning for significant events impacting service to our customers while ensuring continuity of electric service and the seamless transition of operational command.
· Oversee all functional PSPS operations personnel activities to coordinate and implement processes, procedures, continuous improvement actions, and functional interactions resulting in major operational, regulatory, and financial impact on the company.

Responsibilities
- Develops comprehensive outage coordination plans, coordinating with other departments and keeping them updated on any upcoming scheduled outages
- Consults on complex system reliability issues, developing strategic solutions to substation issues
- Partners with operations leadership to evaluate outage requests to ensure compliance with applicable budgets
- Collaborates with protection engineering on system protection schemes, maintaining a safety conscious work environment at all times
- Maintains and updates documentation and data policies in line with NERC/WECC compliance standards, staying up to date on any relevant regulatory changes
- Prepares and updates firm load shedding programs by season
- Mentors grid operators on new and existing computer applications and participates in required training to maintain job knowledge
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Seven or more years of experience in electric system operations.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Business, or a related technical discipline.
· Experience with Transmission & Distribution Business Line and SCE policies, practices, procedures, objectives, and strategies.
· Experience with PSPS protocols and procedures
· NERC Reliability Coordinator Certification.
· Experience with Outage Management System and Energy Management System.
· Experience with Microsoft Cloud Suite applications (SharePoint, OneDrive, PowerBI, etc.).
Additional Information
· This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

· The primary work location for this position is Irwindale, CA. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at Pomona, CA.

· Position may require up to 40% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
· This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position – Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
