In this job, you’ll provide in-depth technical subject-matter expertise for critical distribution management work defining the future of Grid Management. Your technical leadership and guidance will help ensure our team’s success. You will also leverage your skills and experience to solve technical issues with our next generation grid control platforms. As part of the IT team that brings these core capabilities to our T&D organization, you will make a true difference in the planning, delivery, and operational support of our Grid Management technologies. SCE’s GMS is the next generation platform that will be responsible for monitoring and managing the electric grid. This platform is made up of multiple applications and technologies, it is used by Grid Operations for critical operations every day. It is also used by T&D engineering to manage field assets needed for monitoring and control. As a Grid Management System, Senior Advisor, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities

Oversees Grid Application related activities such as operation and maintenance of systems and sub-systems and interfaces with internal and external systems, system enhancements, updating databases and displays, and other activities required to ensure high availability.

Optimizes algorithms, prediction models and an interface with grid equipment

Troubleshoots and resolves complex systems issues either independently or collaboratively with the team, and with vendor engagement, as needed.

Collaborates directly with IT team maintaining, improving, and implementing communications, hardware, and software infrastructure

Interprets and implements various supervisory control and data acquisition protocol communications on remote devices and control centers

Configures and modifies Grid Application databases and ensures that all telemetry and controls are available and accurate

Performs complex technical analysis to define customer requirements, identify risks, design new solutions, and improve existing solutions

Maintains and supports reporting, analytical, and historian systems

Understands and implements various ISO (Independent System Operator) telemetry requirements to support various energy management needs of the customers and maintains grid operator reliability and compliance

Writes and reviews documentation to describe configuration processes, logic, and test plans. Writes and reviews manuals for users

Minimum Qualifications
-
Ten or more years of experience architecting, designing, implementing, or supporting technology solutions for mission critical systems

Experience with Transmission and Distribution networks, SCADA and control systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Four years of experience working with and/or supporting an electric utility Distribution Management System
- Possesses proficient analytical skills to troubleshoot complex problems related to real-time systems
- Capability to create and execute shell scripts, bash, and/or Python
- Proficient with SQL queries and reporting tools and platforms
- Experience performing data analysis, development of business reporting
- Strong coordination and communication skills to support working with cross-functional teams and vendors to achieve success in project activities
- Experience with GitHub, Dynatrace, KAFKA, YAML, Kubernetes, Jenkins
- Experience of Prometheus and Grafana
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet
- Experience working in agile projects, devops, scrum
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
