    This pay range represents the rates of pay for step 1 to the maximum step for this position. The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

Become an Engineer 3, Energy Efficiency at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll support SCE’s portfolio of energy efficiency (EE) programs.  These programs have multi-million-dollar budgets and incentives to adopt energy efficient measures (e.g., heat pumps) or behaviors to deliver energy savings. Within these programs, a set of EE projects, known as Deemed projects, require the creation of the measure package that optimizes the installation process and sets the energy savings, which is then used to calculate savings in all future projects involving that measure.  You will play a critical role as key support for senior engineers, completing key tasks such as revising measure packages  based on feedback, operationalizing requirements, and providing oversight over data and installation procedures. You will have accountability and ownership over discretely defined deliverables and need strong cross-functional collaboration skills, proficient technical capabilities in measure package writing, and a desire to learn business sense to operationalize requirements. Responsibilities

  • Ensures technical issues and problems are resolved in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner utilizing available resources
  • Supervises, leads, and coordinates work with full time and contract employees in the execution of new technical strategies, equipment or standards.
  • Conducts life cycle assessments for utility infrastructure materials and processes; improves preventive maintenance procedures to decrease overall downtime
  • Conducts risk assessments and implements risk mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of engineering projects
  • Supports audits and inspections; ensures compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Provides engineering and technical expertise and guidance for the identification, analysis and resolution of high impact, complex and/or cross-functional problems in engineering
  • Ensures the engineering facility design basis is controlled and design basis documentation is maintained
  • Conducts engineering and related studies with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating high-impact complex projects
  • Provides support and technical training to junior engineering levels
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Five or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential
  • P.E. License
  • LEED Accredited Professional
  • 5-7+ years’ work with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform complex assignments for a specific discipline, various installations, or services
  • Utility Industry Experience
  • Detail-oriented and high level of organization
  • Demonstrates ability to own assigned tasks and overcome challenges with moderate support
  • Strong problem-solving skills with hypothesis driven approach
  • Experience providing exceptional service to internal and external customers and stakeholders
  • Experience with CPUC directives for estimating ex ante savings claims for energy efficiency measures using the deemed savings calculation method
  • Proficient in technical and measure package writing
  • General knowledge and experience with methods and practices necessary to perform complex assignments for a specific discipline, various installations, or services
  • Working knowledge of IOU-led Energy Efficiency programs, policies, and methodologies
  • Understanding of statewide eTRM database and how measures are represented within eTRM
  • Comprehension of Deemed measure packages, including methods and assumptions used
  • Experience with Energy Simulation tools
  • Skilled at planning and establishing next steps based on deadlines and milestones
  • Capable of operationalizing technical requirements to actions
  • Experience in working with cross-functional project teams
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and desire to build collaborative partnerships across internal functions
  • Remains consistently motivated and positive under difficult situations
  • Proactive and effective in self-learning
  • Articulates own professional development issues, showing high interest in furthering own development
  • Able to share appropriate information within workstream

 

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
