You’ll be a key member of a collaborative team responsible for administering benefit plans for over 26,000 employees and retirees, leading efforts that ensure compliance, drive process improvements, and deliver high-value services. You’ll spearhead or support RFPs, vendor transitions, and the financial management of our health and welfare plans. Responsibilities
- Contributes to the development of comprehensive benefits strategy that supports business objectives and enhances employee satisfaction, partnering with HR and business leaders to seamlessly integrate total rewards into broader strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment and cohesion
- Develops proposals for plan changes (including proposals for union negotiations), including supporting materials on prevalence, benchmark/survey data and short and long-term financial implications
- Develops and monitors healthcare benefits financial metrics relative to plan budget. Validates vendor invoices for accuracy and questions any that are outside thenorm. Ensures plan offsets, rebates and credits are accurately reflected; notes variances and explanations
- Participates in identifying best practices and implements changes to streamline the administration of all health and welfare benefit plans requiring consultation with, and/or the management of consultants, vendors, and other internal departments
- Designs employee experience efforts and helps support benefit change management programs
- Assists in managing the outsourced vendor by participating in ongoing calls, call calibrations, SOW reviews and scorecard evaluations
- Remains abreast of legislative changes and industry best practices to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to benefits
- Serves as the project manager or supports implemention of large scale, complex, high dollar health and welfare projects such as RFP/selection of new plan vendors. Includes review of business requirement documents, related processes and communications
- Serves as the Company’s HIPAA Privacy Official
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ten or more years of experience in benefits administration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a Finance-related field
- Five or more years of experience with health and welfare plans, including analyzing plan design, managing vendor relationships, and interpreting relevant regulations
- Experience with the financial management of health and welfare plans and related trusts
- Advanced capability with data analysis and financial reporting experience supporting union negotiations and developing plan proposals
- Experience leading or managing large-scale benefits projects, including RFPs and vendor implementations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong attention to detail
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with a high level of initiative
- Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation or other relevant benefits-related certification
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
