In this job, you’ll report to the Corporate Security department and will be responsible for administering the background investigation program for prospective employees and supplemental workers.
This position will coordinate closely with other Organization Units as well as with applicants/supplemental workers, employers, education institutions and court systems to gather information and to resolve delays. The successful candidate will review candidate criminal background and employment/education history to make employment and access eligibility decisions in accordance with established policy and procedure as well as with applicable federal and state law.

Responsibilities
- Administers the end-to-end background investigation program, including intake, review, and analysis of candidate information.
- Coordinates with internal departments, applicants, vendors, and data sources to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Communicates regularly with prospective applicants and contingent workers on sensitive and confidential background investigation matters.
- Reviews and discusses candidate-disclosed and vendor-identified discrepancies in employment, education, or criminal history.
- Applies policies and procedures consistent with state and federal law to assess a candidate’s eligibility.
- Oversees the relationship between Corporate Security and the background investigation vendor, addressing service quality issues.
- Consults with HR Talent Acquisition, Supply Chain Management, Law, and onboarding service providers to ensure adherence to background investigation policies.
- Coordinates with SCE Law on revisions and updates of background investigation policies to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
- Supports budget and GRC planning activities by analyzing data to forecast volume and budget requirements and recommends strategy options based on analysis.
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in an analytical position requiring the interpretation and application of complex policy and procedures to make high-impact decisions.
- Experience conducting background investigations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, or related field
- Experience in a Corporate Security and/or Human Resources environment
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
