The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

In this job, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the operational backbone of the electric utility workforce through development and implementation of comprehensive work method strategies, documentation, and performance support tools that ensure field personnel are equipped with the skills, tools, and technologies necessary to safely and effectively construct, maintain, and operate the grid. Responsibilities

  • Establishes and documents standards for construction, maintenance, and operations by applying current industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Transmission and Distribution work methods which are in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures and other work method materials focusing on safety protocols, work processes, new technologies, and procedures to be used for training development.
  • Facilitates committees on grounding, tools, covered conductor, rubber gloving, vehicles, and safety meetings to update work methods, vehicle needs, and tooling for Transmission and Distribution craft and field personnel. 
  • Collaborates with engineering teams and vendors to design and develop utility vehicles that meet operational requirements and safety standards.
  • Engages with stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify needs, address gaps, and explore opportunities for improvement within Transmission and Distribution, focusing on safety, compliance, new technologies, equipment, and grid operations.
  • Provides guidance and practical hands-on demonstrations to craft and field personnel and trainers focusing on safety protocols, work processes, new technologies, and procedures pertinent to transmission, distribution, substation operations, and utility vehicle operation, maintenance and safety protocols.
  • Conducts safety observations to evaluate the effectiveness of work methods documentation and tools and assists with safety related incident investigations to identify root causes, required corrective actions in compliance with safety standards.
  • Advise front-line employees and stakeholders to resolve work method issues and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates logistics and resources to support facilitation across multiple locations, programs, and systems, focusing on topics such as new tools, equipment/technology, process changes, updates to work methods impacting craft and field personnel
  • Collects and transforms complex technical data in order to provide clear and practical guidance to craft and field personnel.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience in electric utility craft work (transmission, distribution, substation construction, maintenance or operations).
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Distribution Craft Work Experience  
  • roficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, TEAMS, OneDrive) 
  • Experience with Facilitation and/or Training 
  • Demonstrated experience actively participating in cross-functional safety teams or initiatives 
  • Familiarity with SCE Processes and Procedures 

 

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 60% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position – Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
