lead the coordination of high-impact distribution engineering projects and champion continuous improvement across systems and teams.

 

The main work you will perform may include:

  • Coordination of distribution commodities as a lead representative for Distribution Engineering, including the prioritization, organization, and distribution of project and task work.
  • Engage in the development and implementation of tracking mechanisms with a focus on delivering key results and maximizing information from lessons learned.
  • Develop and present training materials to support capital scoping, tool enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Act as a lead spokesperson on behalf of Distribution Engineering to consult for cross functional process and tool enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and reviewing grid technologies, building relationships to facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer of related work groups
  • Leads the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Collaborate and lead with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development, integration and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies
  • Assists in a variety of engineering and business initiatives and grid strategies, including development of innovative procedures and design recommendations
  • Provides support for new equipment installation and startup, then leads the hand over processes to the ramp and sustaining phases
  • Leads junior engineers in investigation of threats on the distribution system infrastructure based on observations and findings
  • Gathers and correlates basic data using engineering studies and procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems
  • Facilitates training and professional development opportunities for engineering team members to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Seven or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an Engineer or Power System Planner in an electric utility with distribution system planning or distribution operations focused experience. Y/N
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Masters in related engineering field.Y/N
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively and collaborate with internal customers, peers, and senior management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure.

 

Additional Information 

  • The position’s work mode is remote. Employee is able to work primarily at home or remote however, the employee may be expected to come to an SCE facility on occasion. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Hiring organizations can add further requirements related to specific jobs. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 15% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position – Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
