    This pay range represents the rates of pay for step 1 to the maximum step for this position. The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

Become a Permitting Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll leverage appropriate resources to obtain permits in the public right of way. You will regularly communicate with various internal organizations, governmental agencies, and other external stakeholders to ensure favorable permit conditions for the installation of SCE facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to gather required documentation and information necessary for permit applications and approvals
  • Prepares and processes essential documents for right-of-way access across government-owned land
  • Tracks and maintains detailed records of permit statuses, approvals, and expiration dates, ensuring that all permits are up-to-date and in compliance with regulations
  • Coordinates closely with utility companies and governmental entities to establish efficient communication channels and streamline the approval process for facility-related projects
  • Manages the billing and annual payments to multiple agencies, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of payments for services or usage related to organizational projects
  • Monitors regulatory changes and updates related to licenses, permits, and governmental requirements, ensuring organizational compliance and timely adjustments to processes
  • Provides input on process improvements to reduce potential bottlenecks in obtaining approvals
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience with acquisition of construction permits.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience reviewing and interpreting electric utility construction drawings, plans, maps, and/or designs.
  • Experience working within construction timelines and with various construction personnel and clients.
  • Experience monitoring and updating permit statuses, approvals, and expiration dates.
  • Experience and familiarity with building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and SharePoint.

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
