Become a Charge Ready Associate Project Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will work in the Charge Ready group within the Clean Energy Project Management (CEPM) group in Transmission & Distribution and will be responsible for leading projects through design construction for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle customers requesting service throughout the SCE territory. As the Electric Vehicle (EV) market continues to grow, light, medium, and heavy-duty EV customers continue to increase their footprint requesting new services or expansion of their existing services, and require customer focus and support of their projects.

Transportation Electrification (TE) is a critical strategic initiative for Southern California Edison (SCE) and we are taking a leading role to ensure that TE plays a major part in the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) and criteria pollutant emissions in California. The transportation sector is one of the largest consumers of energy, second to electric power generation, with the majority of energy consumed coming from petroleum.

Electrifying the transportation sector and reducing petroleum usage is critical to realizing California’s ambitious climate and air quality goals. In addition to cleaning and modernizing the grid, SCE is offering tariffs to support charger availability, make electric fueling more affordable and increase awareness of the benefits of electric transportation.

You will be a member of the Charge Ready Project Management team, as an Associate Project Manager, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future?

Key Focus of Role:

  • Works with outside firms to develop and build a site plan for customer to ensure it meets program conditions.
  • Directs all tasks performed by the EV Analyst including field verification requests, documentation for new submittals to the planning department and construction scheduling.
  • Provides weekly/bi-weekly reports to customers and management to facilitate monthly conference calls to provide project status and address customer questions.
  • Receives preliminary/final designs, facilitates customer approval and communication.
  • Receive Preliminary/Final Designs from Design Hubs, facilitate customer approval and communication with Design Hub.
  • Ensure permits and easements are secured and all work order requirements are met when scheduling projects for construction with Districts or Regional Hubs.
  • Schedules customer side electrical construction and customer side civil construction.
  • Provide project updates within database and report out to Manager and CRPM team.
  • Provide EV updates at regional meetings to various levels of management.
  • Build relationships with District and Regional scheduling contacts, Production Specialists, and Preconstruction Inspectors to ensure timely and successful project completion.

Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple work streams of one or more short-term projects with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods and outcomes. Uses project management principles, tools, and techniques under time constraints, shifting priorities, and making decisions with support from leadership and/or Senior Project Manager
  • Exercises latitude and judgement in developing plans, budgets, and resources, directing activities and actions, and determining deliverables
  • Support simple to moderately complex projects and team goals by developing recommended course of action with support from leadership and Senior Project Manager. Develops and recommends course of action on projects in conjunction with the Project Manager
  • Collaborates with peer Project Managers, department/division management, and other internal stakeholders to analyze simple to moderately complex projects and recommend courses of action
  • Support management of planning, development, and/or execution of electric transmission/distribution projects, which may include but is not limited to, wildfire, infrastructure replacement, load growth, poles, line upgrades, maintenance, or installations
  • Support achievement of milestones and report on small to medium transmission and/or distribution projects which may include designs, schedules, projects applications, compliance and safety documentation, regulatory filings, and local and state agency coordination
  • Conducts the development and approval process for transmission line routes, right-of-way access, and environmental permits
  • Implements safety protocols for ground crews and contractors working on live transmission system components and energized substation equipment
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in project management or project support.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Power Bl, Microsoft SharePoint, and WorkIT.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects/assignments concurrently with minimal oversight under tight timelines.
  • Experience directing and implementing small to medium projects, including identifying, maintaining, and/or adjusting the cost, scope, and resources, managing vendors, and leading the formal planning, tracking, and reporting of project performance.
  • Ability to integrate work across related areas, develop the business and services to improve customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, direct information, and provide extraordinary service to internal and external customers.
  • Experience with service planning principles, overhead/underground construction standards, and collaborating with clients, peers, project personnel, and all levels of management to develop solutions and ensure partner buy-in.
  • Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

 

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
