The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

In this job, you’ll lead the strategic execution of substation maintenance and facility maintenance programs that directly impact the reliability and resiliency of SCE’s infrastructure. Overseeing Substation and Facility Maintenance Senior Supervisors, your leadership will ensure safe, compliant operations while supporting emergency response, regulatory compliance, and core business objectives such as safety, reliability, and affordability. Responsibilities

  • Establishes department objectives and long-term maintenance strategies that align with business goals, regulatory requirements, and system reliability targets.
  • Oversees subordinate managers and supervisors responsible for executing transmission substation maintenance and construction programs across a large geographic area.
  • Executes operational plans, standards, and procedures that improve safety, efficiency, and asset performance.
  • Manages department budgets, staffing plans, and performance metrics to ensure cost-effective and timely execution of maintenance activities.
  • Provides strategic direction on resource planning, outage coordination, and emergency response to minimize system disruptions and support grid stability.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with NERC, WECC, CPUC, and other applicable standards.
  • Makes high-impact decisions that influence department outcomes, mitigate operational risks, and support company-wide reliability and capital investment strategies.
  • Responsible for staffing and compensation strategies and provides guidance and oversight for all supervisors.
  • Partner with Labor Relations management to set strategic policies to ensure equitable application of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Provide leadership in the investigation of safety incidents and develop corrective actions.
  • Must be available for on-call duties after hours and on weekends.
  • Position will require travel and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of combined experience in electrical supervision of transmission, substation or operations.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience supervising union represented employees in an electric utility.
  • Experience in substation maintenance, testing and grid operations. 

 

Additional Information 

 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is in Orange County. However, the successful candidate may have the option to work at any location in the Metro East/Orange region.
  • Position will require up to 60% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position – Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
