Become a Senior Manager, IT Solutions Architecture – Transmission & Distribution in the Enterprise Architecture Services at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll lead a team of Solution and Systems Architects designing innovative, customer-centric IT solutions supporting our Transmission & Distribution Operating Unit.

 

As part of the Enterprise Architecture team, the Senior Manager, IT Solutions Architecture – Transmission & Distribution will partner with business clients and other parts of IT to provide architecture services including solution and systems architectures, IT portfolio strategy, and roadmaps necessary to plan and deliver IT solutions related to SCE’s Transmission & Distribution capabilities. You will play a key role in supporting the Transmission & Distribution organization’s business through the enablement and automation of business capabilities, functions, processes, and products.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Manage a team of architects to deliver client consultations, portfolio architectures and roadmaps, design deliverables, recommendations and impact assessments, IT cost estimations, and occasional troubleshooting.
  • Anticipate future business needs and develop short- and long-term architecture roadmaps and solutions to achieve maximized efficiencies.
  • Manage solution, system and project architects that develop conceptual, logical and support physical solution designs and lead continuous improvement of architecture capabilities with full design accountability.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary solutions, system and project architects, and provide management and administrative support as well as technical guidance to both employees and contractors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (executives, management, engineering and developers, operations engineers, product owners, and business managers) to lead IT designs and investment decisions for the Transmission & Distribution IT portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates architectural decisions, plans, goals, and strategies, and gains interpersonal dedication from IT and business leaders for enterprise-level architecture, infrastructure, data, software, search, technology initiatives
  • Assigns architecture resources, directs the architectural work of key initiatives, architectural governance, architectural vision, roadmap, standards and guidelines, patterns, frameworks, and selection of appropriate tools
  • Collaborates and pairs with other product team members (infrastructure, UX, engineering, and product management) to lead their team members in designing secure, reliable, scalable software solutions
  • Coordinates architecture resources to establish reference architectures and design patterns, as well as delivery and support of the key reusable technology platforms and services to increase the speed to value of solution design and implementation.
  • Proactively reviews the system characteristics of all aspects of conceptual and logical architecture designs.
  • Leads team member in the development of portfolio architectures, population of enterprise application tools and data to help with application rationalization and technical portfolio and enterprise architecture roadmaps.
  • Serves as an escalation point for difficult architecture and trade-off analysis situation during solution analysis
  • Manages resource capacity, demand, architecture metrics for their team to support staffing decisions and resource allocation
  • Works with internal stakeholders, vendors, and the open-source community to help identify needed software improvements in products
  • Leads learning activities around modern architecture and design practices
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Experience in information technology architecture.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in software engineering and/or solution architecture experience.
  • Master’s degree in computer science, systems engineering or an M.B.A. with a technical undergraduate degree.
  • Experience with TOGAF methodology or TOGAF 9 Certification.
  • Experience in the electric utility business areas and its regulatory environment.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of sensitive information and thrive in a fast-paced, and service-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated, independent initiative and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong technical intuition.
  • Time management and committed to meeting bold deadlines and influence through persuasive written and verbal communication, as well as the ability to set and level set expectations at the executive level.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.

 

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position – Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
