The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

Become an Outage Management Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be responsible for coordinating outages for SCE’s fleet of generating resources including Utility Owned Generation and contracts. You’ll communicate with the plants as well the EPM planning and contract management groups to develop the most accurate picture of our resources, and plan for their replacement when they are unavailable. You will also be the point of contact with the ISO for outages.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and communicates dispatch instructions and verifies that they are followed.
  • Participates in producing key transaction reports, ensuring adherence to the Company's financial and risk policies.
  • Submits bids and schedules into multiple ISO systems.
  • Analyzes data to regularly advise on optimal asset scheduling while maintaining compliance and safety standards.
  • Assists in the development of high-level presentations presented to executive management.
  • Produce transaction reports ensuring compliance with all regulatory rules and internal risk requirements. Ensures all notifications and scheduling are timely and accurate.
  • Reviews and analyzes nominations in a timely manner and ensures results are in compliance with policies and tariffs.
  • Schedules delivery and receipt of contracted volumes with trading counterparts along with ensuring hourly balancing for all positions.
  • Adjusts the daily energy forecast and presents balancing transactions to owners for trader execution.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in wholesale energy markets, resource outages or plant operations.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Experience with outage management in wholesale power markets
  • Experience with ISO Outage Management System (OMS) or Versify outage management system
  • Experience working in a utility industry
  • Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and negotiating skills.
  • Self-driven and able to work well in a team environment.

 

Additional Information

 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
