Become a Regulatory Affairs Advice Letter Group, Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll have the opportunity to play a key role in the regulatory process by coordinating CPUC advice letter filings from start to finish. You’ll ensure timely, compliant submissions, provide quality assurance, and respond to regulator and customer inquiries—making you a critical contributor to regulatory success. Additionally, you’ll:
- Coordinate and manage the submittal of advice letters to the California Public Utilities Commission’s Energy Division in coordination with deadlines from internal clients or external orders.
- Ensure all protest replies and comments to draft resolutions are submitted in a timely manner and in accordance with General Order 96-B and the Commission’s Rules of Practice and Procedure.
- Provide quality assurance and compile documents for each advice letter.
- Update database with pertinent files and service lists and ensure that all advice letters are posted accurately to various websites.
- Respond to customer and regulator inquiries regarding advice letter information.

Responsibilities
- Researches and analyzes public utility commission proceedings regarding demand side management, smart grid, distributed energy resources, and business model regulations for electricity markets.
- Compiles company operating statistics for internal and external distribution.
- Participates in stakeholder processes, regulatory bodies, and regional organizations.
- Assists in performing reviews of key contracts to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and solicitation requirements.
- Assembles various reports and evidence for communication to external regulators.
- Provides guidance to cross-functional organizations on considering preventative measures on corrective action responses.
- Provides advice and guidance on regulatory issues affecting the company's assets.
- Participates in advocating on regulatory matters related to strategic goals and objectives.
- Assists in monitoring key industry standards and regulatory updates, and develops internal guidance for relevant stakeholders.
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience with regulatory filings/proceedings and compliance standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or higher in applicable profession, business, or technical discipline.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
- General awareness of General Order 96-B which governs advice letters.
- Experience in dealing with the California Public Utilities Commission, California Energy Commission, or other State regulatory agencies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience using good analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience communicating regulatory requirements to internal stakeholders in various levels.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
