Become a Valuation Analytics Senior Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll provide technical leadership for the team’s procurement and valuation work, helping shape how SCE evaluates clean energy resources and procurement opportunities. You’ll lead complex analyses of project economics, market trends, and regulatory developments, develop and enhance valuation methodologies and analytical tools, research emerging technologies and policy issues, and translate complex findings into clear recommendations that support procurement strategy, regulatory initiatives, and portfolio decision-making. You’ll serve as a subject matter expert for valuation-related issues, providing technical guidance, reviewing analytical work products, and supporting the development of team capabilities and best practices.

Responsibilities
- Drives commercial contract negotiations with customers, navigating interactions with legal, operational, hedging, and commercial teams, finalizing terms with counterparties, providing high-level commercial recommendations to Senior Management and making decisive, informed decisions.
- Steers the qualification and prioritization of business opportunities to efficiently utilize commercial and analytical resources, and to ensure timely commercial review and senior management approval.
- Leads the liaison process with the legal team throughout contract preparation, expertly identifying and critically evaluating non-standard terms proposed by the customer, and devising comprehensive mitigations.
- Leads the development of high-level business cases, using strategic insight to drive the initial analysis of project viability and pricing, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and market trends.
- Leads in driving insightful qualitative analysis, expertly utilizing standard tools and steering ad-hoc analysis, offering innovative solutions to complex issues based on the analysis.
- Deploys custom price models for specific customer offerings, forward energy and volatility curves along with capacity, transmission and ancillary services.
- Enables wins of profitable deals by shaping and validating the commercial, financial structure and mitigating commercial risks for the deals, and develops and owns financial models of the deals.
- Steers and supervises adherence to internal governance and policies, managing liaison with relevant internal teams such as Pricing, Legal, and Credit, has a commanding role in contracting activity, and oversees ongoing contract management services post-sale to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Delivers the tendering, structuring, negotiation and execution of high value contracts for SCE Energy's major industrial, commercial and public sector customers and prospects.
- Defines and mitigates financial risk and ensures that an appropriate level of risk provisions is reflected in the financial representations.
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ten or more years of experience in energy market analysis, financial forecasting, valuation, modeling, and/or contract negotiations.
- Experience leading valuation analysis and/or commercial contract negotiations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading complex valuation analyses for power purchase agreements, utility-owned projects, emerging technologies, and other non-standard opportunities.
- Experience guiding RFO strategy, evaluation design, and quality control for major energy solicitations.
- Knowledge of energy procurement strategy and evolving market, regulatory, tax, and procurement related issues.
- Experience supporting regulatory proceedings, filings, and data requests.
- Experience providing cross-functional analysis for executive decisions and emerging business issues.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex analyses into clear recommendations.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
