The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

Become a Principal Manager in Grid & Telecom Operations, within the Information Technology (IT) organization at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will oversee the safe and reliable operations of the communications networks supporting the Grid control systems and services, and the Enterprise business services for SCE. You will provide overall operational support and set strategy for multiple technology teams including data networks, network security, and telecommunications transport systems enabling emerging operational technology (OT) as well as services and applications foundational to the core business of SCE.  As a Principal Manager, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities

  • Oversees the safe and reliable operations of communications networks supporting grid control systems and enterprise business services
  • Sets strategy for multiple technology teams, including data networks, network security, and telecommunications transport systems
  • Directs resolution of sophisticated communications issues and implements cross-functional process improvements
  • Develops and enhances relationships with key business leaders and stakeholders to maintain technology solutions
  • Ensures solutions for grid and enterprise operations align with the company’s strategic direction and business needs
  • Manages employee performance for direct and/or matrixed reports, establishing goals aligned with company objectives
  • Contributes to the company’s efforts in overall objectives of power generation and reduction of carbon emissions
  • Communicates and trains teams effectively to achieve results through delegation as needed
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Experience in Informational Technology, Operational Technology, and/or Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience managing one or more org units.
  • Ten or more years of experience managing multiple business and technology solutions.
  • Seven or more years of experience in telecom, network engineering, or utility communications.
  • Strong understanding of telecom technologies (e.g., LTE/5G private networks, fiber, microwave).
  • Five or more years of experience building strong teams and building a positive work environment.
  • Five or more years of experience creating effective oral and written communications in a professional work environment.

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead.  However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time in Alhambra. 
  • Position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position – Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation may apply to this position.
