The pay range and the specific pay for the successful candidate are determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Southern California Edison Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.

Southern California Edison (SCE) is offering a unique opportunity to lead complex capital projects that support the modernization of historic hydroelectric facilities in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. In this role, you will be responsible for full lifecycle project management, including schedule and budget oversight, development of requests for proposals, bid evaluation, contract award processes, cost estimating, material procurement, construction oversight, and project close‑out. Your work will play a critical role in ensuring these legacy hydroelectric assets continue to provide reliable renewable power, contribute to competitive customer rates, reduce carbon emissions, and support cleaner air for the communities we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple work streams of one or more short-term projects or programs with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods and outcomes (scope, schedule, and cost deliverables, in addition to achieving quality and safety objectives) in accordance with the organization and company policies, procedures and guidelines under the direction of a project manager, senior project manager, senior manager or principal manager
  • Supports the development of strategy and business cases plans, objectives and initiatives for the organization related to projects under the direction of a project manager, senior project manager, senior manager or principal manager; supports the development of project schedule and budget; participates in the change control process
  • Develops and recommends course of action on moderately complex projects in conjunction with the Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, or Manager.With support from their leader – leads managers (combination of SCE and supplemental ICs and leaders) and contractors in the development and execution of major projects and programs; recommends both strategic and tactical leadership direction and well as oversight of work performed; elevates performance issues to their leader; collaborates with their leader on decisions regarding project direction; collaborates on recommendations for senior management and executive level decisions
  • Collaborates with Project Managers and Department/Division management on analyzing complex projects and recommending courses of action; supports the development of presentations for senior and executive management for project related issues and prescribed milestones, may present to management
  • Provides project leadership for safety, ensuring that the design incorporates the latest standard and requirements and that the work associated with the project is conducted injury free, with support from their leader
  • Supports the project manager, senior project manager, senior manager or principal manager in project oversight and fiscal responsibility related to projects and programs
  • Supports the development of project team, project development, environmental assessment, execution planning in support of the project manager, senior project manager, senior manager or principal manager
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in construction project management or construction project support.
  • Posses a valid Class C Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in similar project management or engineering support functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering; or a bachelor’s degree in construction management; or associate degrees or trade school plus 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Primavera and or MS Project scheduling software with proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Experience in managing contractors in complex infrastructure work.
  • Experience in supporting procurement efforts, such as leading a Request for Proposals, evaluating proposals, and selecting a vendor.
  • Strong conviction in safety and experience with managing a safe work environment. 
  • Knowledge of Hydro Power Generating plant operations and equipment a plus.

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at our Big Creek, CA site.
  • Position will require up to 25% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position – Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
