Local Planning

Responsible for small to medium-sized residential and commercial/industrial projects. Local planners support the SCE’s electrical distribution system by developing and designing plans, identifying necessary resources and providing cost estimates and options for the construction of distribution facilities. Whether it’s upgrading or installing new electrical service, or setting a new electric meter, this team has it covered.

Technical Planning

Responsible for designing projects to support distribution infrastructure replacement, system growth, grid modernization, automation and underground conversion programs. These top gun planners design SCE’s most complex distribution systems across the service territory.

SAFETY. ABOVE ALL ELSE.

“The safety culture at Edison is a priority. It can be physical safety, whether I’m out in the field driving or I’m at work sites, being aware of my surroundings. It can also be if there are nails on the ground or if there’s anything that can affect my safety or well-being. So you got to have a safety mindset at the forefront. The safety culture here runs deep and I appreciate it.”

Field Planning Technician Trainee Program

The Field Planning Technician has one of the core roles of the planning organization. Southern California Edison distributes energy to millions of customers 24 hours a day. The Field Technician gathers information, does Pole loading and helps to keep our transformers loaded properly. It is a critical role working along side our planners to add service to our customer base.

Distribution Planner Trainee Program

The Distribution Planner Trainee program is a pathway into our Planning organization. Planners help prepare estimates, work orders, construction plans, and bills of materials used at the planning stage of new engineering and construction projects. They design the electric distribution to the project location. Planners are the backbone of our electric grid.

Being a planner runs in the family for Ashley Houston. Her father, brother and husband have worked as SCE planners. “Whether it’s providing power to a family’s home or updating infrastructure in the field, there’s nothing quite like seeing your job out there and know that it is bettering life for our customers, families and businesses.”

Adebola Ayorinde, Director, NW Distribution Construction and Maintenance

Twenty-one years ago, Adebola ‘Bola’ Ayorinde started his career at SCE as a planner trainee. Today he leads an organization responsible for the planning, construction and maintenance of electrical assets that span nearly half of SCE’s distribution service territory.”
